A befriender is someone who is there to support you, share activities and can help reduce feelings of isolation. Befriending is a supportive and reliable social relationship, offering help and assistance on a one-to-one basis.
The befriending relationship is based upon trust, confidentiality and mutual involvement. It is non-judgemental, positive and purposeful, and there is commitment over time.
What do befrienders do?
Our trained befrienders will:
- Meet with you regularly
- Share social activities with you
- Maintain positive contact
- Be a friend
